Democratic Donkey Republican Elephant

Quit Buying Into The Myth Of The Liberal/Conservative Dichotomy

Dear Editor,

Our nation is in crisis and a solution is needed.  Liberals argue more government is the answer.  Conservatives argue that private industry is the answer.  What both views fail to recognize is that our government has become little more than an extension of the multinational corporate and financial institutions that dominate our world.

There is a boot on the throat of the American people but a political party does not wear it.  It is worn by organizations like Monsanto, General Electric, Lockheed Martin and Goldman Sachs who control our politicians by controlling the flow of money.  As a result, politicians can no longer be counted on to act in the interest of those they supposedly represent and instead have become little more than puppets of the global elite.

Neither the Democratic or Republican party can save us because both are controlled by the same special interests.  The Tea Party is no different, as it has been co-opted by mainstream Republicans.  The battle is not liberals vs. conservatives.  It is the rich vs. the poor. The middle class is being destroyed while power and resources are funneled into fewer and fewer hands.  We are being robbed and reduced to a population with few options and little hope.  Meanwhile, we waste precious time fighting one another while ALL of us are under attack.

There is no clear solution to this problem.  But a solution starts with realizing that we are far more alike then we are different.  Divide and conquer is as old as empires and until we realize that this weapon is being used against us, we will continue our downward spiral.

I encourage everyone to think beyond "liberals" and "conservatives" and begin exploring the forces behind these political ideologies that manipulate and control our society.  This is where we must focus our energy if we expect meaningful change to occur.  Anything else is trimming the branches of the problem when we should be attacking the roots.
